Under this section the Local Government Board has
issued detailed regulations as to the inspection of
districts and the keeping of records. Officers must be
specifically designated to carry out the duties under the
Act. The necessary officers were duly designated;
certain premises have been inspected, and their condition
was under consideration; but no definite action had been
taken with respect thereto up to December 31st last.
Two matters are at present under consideration by the
Committee:—
The present by-laws of the Council relating to
houses let in lodgings, as affected by
Section 16 of the new Act.
The making of regulations relating to underground
rooms.
LODGING HOUSES FOR THE WORKING
CLASSES.
Housing and Town Planning Act, 1909, Section 35.
Four applications for my certificate as to the
satisfactory condition of lodging houses were made;
certain defects were found upon examination, but as
these were remedied after informal notice I granted the
certificate in each case.
They were situated at:—
402, Hackney Road Common Lodging House.
5, Victoria Park Square „ „
2-6, Ames Street „ „
119-121, Green Street Salvation Army Shelter.
