WHOOPING COUGH.
The deaths from this disease showed a considerable decrease, the number
registered being 111, as compared with a corrected average of 177 in the 20
years 1885-1904, so that the return revealed a diminution of 66. This number
is, however, above that of the preceding year, when only 83 were registered.
It does not appear to have been unusually fatal in any part of the Borough
even where its greatest incidence occurred, in Tufnell Sub-district, in which the
rate was 0*39 per 1000, as against an average rate for the Borough of 0*32.
On the other hand in South Islington the mortality was only in the
proportion of 0.25 to every 1000 inhabitants.
