FACTORIES AND WORKSHOPS.
The number of workshops and workplaces on the Register at
the end of the year was 1970. The factories were 895, and included
7 tenement factories in which one or more rooms are let
out to tenements who pursue their different trades, availing themselves
of the gas or steam power present in the building. These
seven tenement factories accommodate 38 different employers,
each of whom is separately and individually subject to the provisions
of the Factory and Workshop Act, 1901.
