BIRTH RATE.
The births registered during the year numbered
4,220, but as before mentioned I have received notice
of 121 infants born of Bethnal Green mothers in lyingin
institutions situated in other parts of London.
These births raise the total to 4,341. This number
is equal to a rate of 32.6 per thousand population
and is slightly above that of the previous year which
was 31.74. The general Metropolitan rate has decreased
and stands at 25.2.
In the registration sub-districts of the Borough the
birth rates were as under ; for purposes of comparison
the death rate in each district is also shewn:—
