INFANTILE MORTALITY.
The infantile mortality, or the proportion of deaths under one year of age to registered births,
is an important factor in vital statistics. The deaths under one year, which in the three preceding
years had been 581, 515, and 510, respectively, were 503 in 1904, being equivalent to 146 per 1,000
births; 3 per 1,000 more than in 1903.
