Infantile Death Rate.
The infantile death rate for 1903 was 86.7 per 1,000 births, a figure
lower than that for the year 1902 when the rate was 87.7. The rate for
England and Wales during 1903 was 132.
The following Table, which is issued by the Registrar General,
shows the infantile death rate for Hampstead as compared with the
County of London, the City of London, and the other Metropolitan
Boroughs. It will be noted that the infantile death rate for Hampstead
here stated is slightly different to that which I have calculated; this is
accounted for by the fact that the commencement and termination of the
Registrar General's registration year varies slightly.
