A large number of organs (various) were condemned on account of other diseases and affections, chiefly of a parasitic nature, particulars of which will also be found in the appended table:—

The whole of the foregoing organs, etc., were found in slaughterhouses and were destroyed
by owners' consent.
The butchers' shops and stalls, the preserved meat factories, and various food establishments
have been regularly and frequently visited, over 1,100 visits being paid to these during
the quarter, and the quality of the meat, etc., as a general rule has been good.
The following unsound foods were found during such visits, viz. :—20 lbs. of beef tainted,
5 ox tails tainted, 3 rabbits tainted, 78 lbs. of unsound fruit, and 450 lbs. of ox livers and
spleens, which came under your notice and were condemned as unwholesome and unfit for
human consumption on account of imperfect preservation in a cold air store. These were all
destroyed by owners' consent, and warnings were addressed to persons where any disregard or
carelessness concerning the provisions of the unsound food clauses of the Public Health Act
were observed.
The approximate weight of diseased and unsound food destroyed during the quarter were
as under, viz. : —
