Forty-seventh annual report on the health and sanitary condition of the Borough of Islington

Distribution of the Population.—The estimated population is
distributed among the seven Sub-registration districts in the following
manner, to Tufnell 32,458 persons, Upper Holloway 34,442, Tollington 34,385,
Lower Holloway 41,486, Highbury 64,519, Barnsbury 54,368, South-East
Islington 75,610. Each of these sub-districts is equal both in size and
population to many well known Boroughs in the Kingdom, which are centres
for important manufacture, a fact which emphasizes the great size of Islington
(vide Table II.)
The Wards are estimated to contain the undermentioned populations:—
Tufnell 32,458, Upper Holloway 34,442, Tollington 34,385, Lower Holloway
41,485, Highbury 34,814, Mildmay 24,818, Thornhill 33.329, Barnsbury 21,039,
St. Mary 17,255, Canonbury 30,588, and St. Peter 52,654 (vide Table II.).
