The Houses in Building were 34 only: 29 in the Town sub-district, and 5 in Brompton.
Population.—The enumerated population comprised 176,628 persons: in the Town subdistrict
128,037, in Brompton 48,591: males 69,084, females 107,544; excess of females 38,460.
In the Town sub-district the males were 53,455, the females 74,582: excess of females 21,127.
In Brompton the males were 15,629, the females 32,962 : excess of females 17,333. Corresponding
figures relating to the Parliamentary Divisions and the several Wards are set out in the tables
at page 5.

The increase of population in the ten years in the area of Kensington, as constituted by
the London Government Act, 1899, which came into operation November 9th, 1900, was 6,557.
The population of the areas transferred from other Boroughs to Kensington at that date was
7,180, and that of the areas transferred from Kensington to other Boroughs, was 3,625: the
net gain of population by Kensington was thus 3,555. If to this number we add the gain by
excess of births over deaths (4,847), there is shown an apparent increase of population in the
ten years of 8,402. But the enumerated increase was only 6,557: it follows that a loss of 1,845
occurred by migration of Kensington people to other places.
The density of the Population was 77.2 per acre.
