was provided, and in five cases the sanitary conveniences were
unsuitable for use by both sexes. The remaining 51 were cases of
insufficiency of accommodation.
Summary of Defaults and Defects in Factories
and Workshops.—It may be desirable here to summarize
the results of the year's work in regard to the sanitary condition of
workshops, etc. During the year 3,760 visits of inspection have
been made to factories and workshops by the Workshop Inspector
and the Lady Inspector, and a large amount of work has been
accomplished. In addition to this, the other inspectors in the
ordinary course of their duties on their several districts have
inspected 18 workshops. The chief matters arising in relation to
this work are set out in the following table:—
