The class of individuals who receive home work appears to be
very changeable in their habits and place of residence, for of 183
outworkers' premises visited a second time at an interval of about
twelve months from the first visit, it was found that only 85 were
still outworkers in the same premises, 98 having ceased to have
home work (either permanently or temporarily), or had moved their
residence, and a few had started workshops. Of 735 workrooms in
the Borough visited by Miss Newton only 130 were found to be
confined to work alone. They were used as set out below:—
