CUSTOMS AND INLAND REVENUE ACT, 1890.
During the year 1905 applications were made to me by seven
owners of tenement property for certificates that their tenements were
so constructed "as to afford suitable accommodation for each of the
families or persons dwelling therein, and that due provision is made
for their sanitary requirements," for the purpose of obtaining a
remission from the Inhabited House Duty. The seven applications
included 397 tenements. These I inspected, and granted the
required certificates after the execution of any required alteration.
CANAL BOATS ACT, 1877-1894.
The Canal-Boats' Inspector of the Borough reports that during
the year 1905 he made 115 visits to the waterways in the district
and inspected 71 boats. He found on these boats 139 men, 4
women and 3 children. The only infringement of the Canal
Boats Acts and Regulations was the absence of proper marking
of one boat.
The boats were found in good structural repair and in a clean
condition.
Only one notice was served, that being for the above nonmarking
of a boat.
