Articles Seized and Surrendered as Unfit for Food.—
During 1905 the following articles were seized by or surrendered to
the Inspectors as being unfit for food, viz., 1 ton, 1 cwt., 18 lbs. fish;
10 cwt. fruit and vegetables; 13 cwt., 3 qrs., 4 lbs. meat. In
addition, 3 boxes of fish and 16 boxes and one basket of tomatoes
were surrendered. All of these articles, after examination, were
destroyed by fire.
There were two prosecutions during 1905 in regard to unsound
food. During the examination of a consignment of pig's heads on
the premises of a local brawn manufacturer, it was found by the
meat Inspector that several of the heads were affected with tuberculosis.
