ALIENS IN FINSBURY.
The Census Returns for 1901 record the total number of aliens in
Finsbury as 2,487. Previously to that year the Census Report was
based on Registration Areas, and therefore Finsbury (Clerkenwell,
St. Luke's, &c., as it then was) was included in the Holborn
Registration District, and hence it is impossible to say exactly what
number of aliens lived in what is now the Borough of Finsbury. In
any event there has been an increase, as the following figures
show :—
