Architect has also drawn up detailed plans which have been
adopted by the Public Health Committee, and now await the final
sanction of the Council to the proposed scheme. The obtaining
of the necessary loan for the money, and tenders from builders for
the erection of the buildings, and the speedy erection of the same,
seem to be the stages which will shortly be undertaken to complete
the matter, and provide once and for all what is a decided
requirement for the Borough.

Notifications under the provisions of the Public
Health (London) Act, 1891. There have been notified a total
of 1,742 cases.
Small-pox.—There were 100 cases of Small-pox, 52 from
East Greenwich, 13 from West Greenwich, 8 from St. Nicholas,
and 27 from Charlton.
As stated in my last Annual Report, an outbreak of Smallpox
commenced in London during the year 1901. It began to
affect Greenwich in October, 1901, and cases continued to arise at
various intervals until August 11th, 1902, during which period
104 cases occurred in Greenwich. Ten, however, being in the
year 1901, were dealt with in the Report for that year, but as one
may now summarise the whole outbreak, they will be again
considered amongst the total cases in this year's Report.
Many of the particulars were given in a Special Report on
the Small-pox outbreak in Greenwich, which was presented during
the year, which, for the sake of completeness, is abstracted in
this Annual Report.
