as compared with 12•6 in 1901. This figure of 13•6 has, of course,
no value except for local comparative purposes.
The following table from the returns of the Registrar-General
compares the death-rates of London, Finsbury, and the neighbouring
central districts of the Metropolis for 1902 after distribution of
deaths in public institutions. The rates for Hampstead, one of the
healthiest districts in London, have also been added for purposes of
comparison.
