being more or less rusted away; the tie-rods in places being eaten
quite half through, and, in several instances out of the perpendicular;
and expressed an opinion that all the girders in the old
building (with the one exception) should be removed, and replaced
with new, and that the remaining girders and roof should bo
repaired where necessary. Tenders have therefore been invited
for carrying out the work suggested in the report.
Additional Dressing Boxes.
First-class Swimming Bath.
Owing to the inconvenience experienced, during the hot weather,
of providing sufficient dressing accommodation in the First-class
Swimming Bath, for the large number of bathers, the Committee
have had ten additional dressing boxes constructed, of the same
design as the existing boxes, at the end of the Swimming Bath,
behind the diving boards. The alteration in no way deteriorates,
but rather adds to the attractiveness of the Bath.
Advertising the Baths.
With a view of making the Baths better known in the neighbouring
locality, the Committee have had some framed advertisements,
containing a coloured view of the Swimming Baths, prepared,
and obtained consent to exhibit them in the principal
Clubs, Restaurants, Hotels, and other large establishments in
the Parish. The Committee also have under consideration the
question of further advertising the Baths by means of small
enamelled iron tablets being fixed to the railings of the public
conveniences, Piccadilly Circus and Great Marlborough Street,
and also to certain lamp columns in the district, but no actual
decision had been arrived at up to the close of this report.
Insurance of Boilers.
The Boilers belonging to the Baths are insured with the Vulcan
Boiler Insurance and Steam Power Company, and are thoroughly
overhauled and inspected periodically by their Inspectors.
