It will be noted that the proportion of deaths
from violence is steadily diminishing in the City.
BIRTHS.
The number of children born in the City (see
Table B, page 38) was 416. The birth rate,
therefore, was 14.8 per 1,000. The birth rate
for the whole of London is given as 29.4.
This wide variation is due to the differences in
the sex and age distribution of their populations.
