Most of the defects herein indicated have
been remedied to my satisfaction since this
matter was first reported upon last summer.
In the interest of all concerned, the whole
of the drainage in the basement should be
reconstructed upon modern principles. This,
however, is a matter that more properly comes
within the province of your Engineer, to whom
the question has been referred, with instructions
to call upon the Firm to prepare a scheme and
submit the same for the joint approval of the
Sanitary Committee, the Engineer, and myself.
In conclusion, it affords me pleasure to
acknowledge the personal courtesy shown by
the medical men in attendance, during the many
weeks the epidemic lasted, who were ever ready
with the fullest information and assistance under
very trying circumstances.
