maximum 63°.0 ; mean 42°.9. The winds were S.W. Sunshine
only 17 per cent.
December was a mild, dark month, with a considerable
amount of fog. 1.2 inch of rain fell on 10 days. The
minimum temperature was 3lo.0; maximum 510.2; mean
410.8. During the whole month there were only about 13
hours of bright sunshine registered.
BIRTHS AND DEATHS.
The number of births registered during the 52 weeks
ending December 22nd, 1894, when all essential corrections
have been made, was 3,483.
The number of deaths (corrected) of parishioners was
2,724. This gives a birth-rate of 244; a death-rate of 19.1
per thousand.
Calculated in the same way, the birth and death-rates for 1894 of the sub-districts were as follows :—
