The Birth-rate of the Parish for the year 1893 is 15.3 per 1,000
of the population.
In London, the number of births registered in the 52 weeks was
132,975, being in the proportion of 31.0 annually per 1,000 of the
estimated population.
Deaths.
In St. Martin-in-the-Fields the total Deaths in the year 1893
were 367, against 331 of the previous year. This increase of
mortality over the previous year is due to the fact of the Charing
Cross Hospital having been closed for several weeks in 1892 for
the purpose of repairs, therefore the deaths in that institution would
be less during that year.
