II. The French Hospital, Shaftesbury Avenue.
The Census of 1891 gives the total inmates of this
hospital, including officers:—
29 males
38 females
67 persons.
In 1893 there were 36 deaths reported; of the e, 30 were
non-parishioners brought in for treatment from outside
districts; Assuming that the number of inmates during
the past year averaged 67, the death-rate was equal to
53.7 per 1,000.
17 of the causes of death were from diseases of the heart
and lungs, 2 from enteric fever, and 17 from various
diseases.
III. The British Lying-in Hospital, Endell Street.
During the year, 189 women were delivered in the
hospital; the total number of children delivered was 189,
of whom 3 were still-born.
There were 4 deaths, all non-parishioners : 1 mother died
