Every list is required by the Order to be open to inspection
by any Inspector under the Factory and Workshops'
Act 1878, or by any Officer of a Sanitary Authority.
A letter was received 28th January from the London
County Council, asking what arrangements had been made
for carrying out in this District the provisions of the Public
Health (London) Act 1891, with reference to the sanitary
inspection of workshops under the Factory Act of 1891,
especially (a) to the general state of cleanliness, and repair
of the workshops, (b) to the amount of cubic space allotted
to each worker, (c) to the adequacy or inadequacy of the
means of ventilation provided, and (d) to the extent to
which Section 38 of the Public Health (London) Act 1891,
which relates to the provision of sufficient and suitable
accommodation in the way of sanitary conveniences is
complied with.

Meteorology.

The following remarks on the Meteorology of the year are furnished from the reports to the Registrar-General by Mr. James Glaisher, F.R.S., made at the Royal Observatory, Greenwich, and other stations.

The Weather in January was cold from the 1st to the
18th, it was then warm to the end of the month, during
February there was frequent rain, in March a warm period
set in and with the exception of a few days continued until
the end of the month. April was fine and warm with an
