For the purpose of extending the inquiry on this
subject, some of the results of the house-to-house
visitation mentioned above (see page 10, ante), have
been tabulated, and are here presented in Table 13.
The sickness-rates (notifications) have been calculated
per 1,000 of the inhabitants of all ages, the numbers
of cases in the one year, 1895, being insufficient to
admit of a satisfactory division into age-groups.
Owing to only one year being dealt with, to
the populations of the streets in question being in
a station of life much given to frequent change of
residence, and to the small numbers dealt with, the
results shown require to be received with considerable
caution. The Table in question should be read in
conjunction with Tables 3 and 4 on pages 11 and 12
of this Report.
