Included in the above figures are the deaths of
of 280 non-parishioners, the majority of whom died
in St. Mary's Hospital. Further, there have to be
added 193 deaths of parishioners who died in
"outlying institutions" and elsewhere, whose
deaths are returned through Somerset House. The
corrected number of deaths of parishioners during
the year was, therefore, 1,831, and the corresponding
death-rate 15-06 per 1,000. The corrected rates for
males were 17.73 in St. Mary's, and 15.52 in St.
John's District; those for females were 15.18 and
9.63 respectively. The corrected totalrates for the two
Districts were 16.29 for St. Mary's and 11.73 for
St. John's.
