PROSECUTIONS AGAINST
SENDERS OF
BAD MEAT TO THE CITY.
The following prosecutions were instituted
during the year against persons charged
with sending unwholesome meat to the City
Markets.
On the 23rd January a poulterer, carrying on
business in Leadenhall Market, was summoned
at the Mansion House Justice Room, for
exposing for sale, in Leadenhall Market,
sixteen putrid turkeys, and was convicted and
fined £10, and £1 1s. costs, or fourteen days'
imprisonment.
On the 6th March, a meat salesman,
carrying on business in the Central Market,
was summoned at the Guildhall Justice Room
for selling two pieces of diseased pork, and
was convicted and fined £50 and 10s. costs, or
two months' imprisonment. Notice of appeal
was given but was not followed up.
