Oranges.—Forty-one cases were removed as
"Trade Refuse," from Fresh Wharf, Lower
Thames Street, at the request and expense of
the wharfingers.
Sardines.—Thirty-one cases, containing 100
tins in each (say 3,100 tins), were removed from
Brook's Wharf, Upper Thames Street, to our
Depot, and destroyed. The sardines were not
offered for sale, and the wharfingers, having
some doubt as to their wholesomeness, invited
our inspection.
Camembert Cheeses, in an advanced stage
of decomposition, were removed from the
Midland Goods Station, Whitecross Street,
and destroyed as unfit for food.
Ox Tongues.—3,600, lying at Brewers' Quay,
Lower Thames Street, imported from Archangel,
Russia, in bundles of 12, which had
become shrivelled from age, were unfit for
human food, and destroyed.
