Table IV. gives the birth-rate for Camberwell and its
sub-districts, shewing a decrease as regards the whole Parish.
The decrease of births in Peckham has more than compensated
for the higher birth-rate which has prevailed in Dulwich
and in St. George's.

The total number of deaths registered in the Parish
amounted to 4,941. From this number must be deducted the
deaths which occurred in St. Saviour's Infirmary which
amounted to 732. On the other hand there are to be added
484 deaths of parishioners that occurred in institutions outside
the Parish, so that the correct total from which the death-rate
is to be calculated is 4,693. The deaths of those persons
belonging to the Parish and who died in institutions outside
its boundaries have been duly re-distributed among
those parts of the Parish whence they were removed, and in
those instances where it was impossible to ascertain from which
registration sub-district they had been so removed, the deaths
have been re-distributed, together with those that occurred in
the Workhouses and the Infirmary, among the four sub-districts
of the Parish in proportion to the recorded deaths.
