HOUSING AND SANITARY ADMINISTRATION,
Mr. Percy Schofield took up his duties in August,
1921, and in the few months he has been at work here
has demonstrated the fact that he is an unusually
efficient Officer. He has contrived to get the maximum
of work done with the minimum of friction in very
short time.
COUNCIL'S HOUSING SCHEME.
On the Montrose Road Site 33 houses were completed
and occupied at the end of the year. The remaining
6 were in course of erection and should be completed
during the month of February.
WEALD VILLAGE SITE.
The sewers and roads on the first section of the site
are completed and ready for the erection of the houses.
The Council have received sanction from the Ministry of
Health to erect 10 houses of the parlour type in the
Meadow Way.
The second section, which is undeveloped, is being
used as allotments.
OTHER SERVICES AND GENERAL.
Public Sanitary Conveniences.
I quote the paragraphs relating to this subject from
Dr. Butler's Reports of 1915 and 1919. "The need for
these is in my opinion very urgent as the district is at
present entirely without this very necessary accommodation."
The need now is even more urgent, and I trust
that the Council will be able to put the work in hand at
an early date. The top of Masons Avenue would be a
very appropriate spot.
