I feel sure that the Council will be in complete
agreement with me when 1 state that it is especially
necessary in view of the crowded state of these premises
that everything should be done to make and keep them
dry, well lighted and ventilated, clean and in good repair.
I know that in a few cases the habits of the
tenants are largely responsible for the unsatisfactory
state of their homes, but in a great majority of cases
they are not in any way responsible for the defects and
would gladly welcome an improvement in their surroundings,
and do their best to keep their homes bright
and clean.
METEOROLOGICAL REPORT.
Mr. Walker has very kindly furnished me with the
following summary of the rainfall during 1919, and I
have to thank him for many interesting details respecting
the new housing scheme, and condition of the
Sewage Disposal Works, etc.
