ZYMOTIC DEATH-RATE.
A rate dealing with the number of deaths from the
7 principal zymotic diseases per 1,000 of population.
These number 27, distributed as follows :—
Measles 19
Scarlet Fever 0
Whooping Cough 4
Diphtheria and Membranous
Croup 2
Enteric 1
Diarrhœa 1
Small-Pox 0
Total 27
Affording a zymotic death-rate of 2.1 per 1,000 population,
as compared with 0.59 for 1908. It was, of course,
the large number of deaths from measles which caused
such an increase in this rate. It will be noticed that
only one death was due to zymotic diarrhoea.
