from 2 inches to 3 inches, the sprinkler, which is one of
Messrs. Adams' of York is continuous in its action, and is capable
of dealing with from 100 to 400 gallons of sewage per
square yard per 24 hours.
This, with the open septic tank which is to be carried
out as part of the scheme, will no doubt materially assist in
keeping up a high standard of efficiency, and is practically
certain to produce a most satisfactory effluent.
The Surveyor has devoted much time and labour to this
undertaking and has taken the greatest possible interest in
its construction.
I have to thank Mr. Walker, your Surveyor and Sanitary
Inspector for much useful and carefully prepared information
necessary to the proper making up of this report, and at the
same time I should like to express my appreciation of the
ability and tact he has always shown in the excercise of his
multiform duties.
Appended will be found tables of statistics dealing with
population, deaths and births, and new cases of infectious
sickness, which have occurred during the year classified according
to diseases and ages, as required by the Local Government
Board; also tabulated report from the Sanitary Inspector of
work done in his department.
At the close of your three years of office I venture to
thank you for the help and assistance you have always most
willingly rendered me in carrying out of my duties and to congratulate
the Council upon the satisfactory tenor of this report,
a result which must of necessity be largely due to the deep
interest and close attention you have always given to Sanitary
matters connected with the District,
1 remain, Gentlemen,
Very faithfully yours,
GEO. HY. BUTLER,
Medical Officer of Health,
Wealdstone Urban District Council.
