Wealdstone,
21st March, 1904.
To the Chairman and Members of the Wealdstone Urban
District Council.
Gentlemen,
I have the honour of submitting my Annual Report
for the year 1903, which I am pleased to say shows the very
satisfactory death.rate of 8.0 per 1000 living.
POPULATION.
The estimated population is 8096; an increase of about
600 from last year.
BIRTHS.
The births number 256; of these 138 were boys and 118
girls. (In the December quarter there were 40 boys born to
23 girls). This is an increase of 38 over last year, and gives
a birth-rate of 31.6 per 1000.
DEATHS.
Sixty-five deaths were registered during the year, giving
a death-rate per 1000 living of 8.0, which is the lowest we
have yet attained to. When to these are added the deaths of
five inmates of the Hendon Union who belonged to Wealdstone
parish, the total number of deaths is 70, giving a gross
death-rate of 8.6 per 1000. There were 19 deaths in the
March quarter, 13 in the June quarter, 17 in the September
quarter, and 16 in the December quarter. The report of the
Medical Officer of Health for the County shows that Wealdstone's
death-rate for 1902 was the second lowest in the
County of Middlesex.
