Wealdstone,
24th March, 1903.
To the Chairman and Members
of the
Wealdstone Urban District Council.
Gentlemen,
I have much pleasure in presenting my Annual
Report for 1902, which, I am glad to say, shows a very
satisfactory death-rate.
The estimated population is 7,500.
BIRTHS.
The births number 218; of these 120 were boys and 98
girls, giving a birth-rate of 34.4 per 1000, This is considerably
higher than that of last year, which was 31.3.
DEATHS.
Sixty deaths were registered in the District during the
year—34 males and 26 females—giving a death-rate of 8.0
per 1000 living. Of these deaths 19 occurred in the March
quarter; 9 in the June quarter; 16 in the September quarter;
and 16 in the December quarter. If to these are added 4
deaths of Wealdstone paupers who died during the year in
the Hendon Workhouse it brings the number of deaths to 64,
giving a gross death-rate of 8.5 per 1000.
Wealdstone's death-rate for last year again showed very
satisfactorily in the Statistics for the County, coming third on
the list. Appended is a diagram showing at a glance the
state of the Birth and Death rates and increase of Population
from the vear the District was first formed.
