Public Health (Meat Regulations) 1924 and 1935.
During the year, 749 visits have been paid to
slaughterhouses, and it is interesting to note the enthusiasm
of your Inspectors in this section of their
work, by pointing out that most of these visits were
made during the evening and at week-ends after the
office was closed and occasionally on Sundays, and on
at least one evening per week a distance of over 20
miles was covered on this work alone.
Slaughter of Animals Act, 1933.
There are 17 renewals of licences to slaughter or
stun animals in a slaughter house or knacker's yard by
means of a mechanically operated instrument.
There were also five initial licences granted, making
a total of 22 on the register.
Three special licences of fourteen days existence
were granted to foreigners from ships in the Thames,
using a slaughter house in the Stifford area.
