Orthopaedic.—Orthopaedic cases recommended for
admission to Hospital by the Orthopaedic Surgeon are
admitted to the Queen's Hospital, Hackney Road;
Cheyne Hospital, Chelsea; or to Brookfields Hospital,
Walthamstow, with whom the Council have arrangements.
(See table relating to Orthopaedic Treatment).
Puerperal Fever and Puerperal Pyrexia.—
Cases of Puerperal Fever and Puerperal Pyrexia are
admitted either to the Seamen's Hospital, Tilbury, or
to the Orsett Joint Hospital Board. Cases of Ophthalmia
Neonatorum are admitted direct to St. Margaret's
Hospital, London, N., with whom the Local
Authority have an arrangement.
Infectious Diseases.—The Orsett Joint Hospital
Board, of which the Council is a constituent Authority,
maintains the following accommodation:—
Isolation Hospital, Stifford Long Lane, Little
Thurrock, 96 beds.
Smallpox Hospital, Stifford Long Lane, Little
Thurrock, 22 beds.
Maternity and Nursing Homes.—Essex County
Council is the Authority under the Nursing Homes'
Registration Act, 1927. There are three such Homes
registered within the Rural District.
