Infectious Diseases moved to Isolation Hospital:
Scarlet Fever 48
Diphtheria 23
Erysipelas 1
The most serious outbreak of Infectious Disease occurred
at Aveley in the shape of Scarlet Fever, which almost abated
by the end of the year. This was accompanied by an epidemic
of Diphtheria, starting with a case of the two diseases combined,
and showing signs of increasing at the end of the year.
There was no apparent: cause-. but infection was. in my opinion,
frequently spread by sympathetic friends and relatives who
visited the infected homes.
