Sanitary Improvements
The Scheme prepared for the drainage of West
Thurrock and South Stifford, was the subject of an
enquiry before two Inspectors of the Local Government
Board, and sanction for a loan was refused,
and recommendation made that a larger scheme,
embracing Grays, Little Thurrock and Tilbury
Docks, be considered.
It is to be hoped there will be as little delay as
possible in formulating another scheme, as West
Thurrock is in a very insanitary condition and
there is great difficulty in getting a suitable shoot
for the large quantity of sewage daily to be
deposited. There is quite a possibility of the shoot
becoming a nuisance.

of those treated at home, and disinfection

occurred. All bedding, wearing apparel, &c., is
taken to the Isolation Hospital and disinfected there
in one of Dr. Thresh's portable steam disinfectors.
Notices of all cases of infectious disease are sent to
the School Managers, and in the case of Small-pox
to the Vaccination Officer.
