The Scavenging departments, including that of
the "Docks," are all under my control, and they
consist of Emptying Cesspools, Pails, and the
removal of House Refuse. The Cesspools are
pumped into large vans and the contents deposited
on land at a distance away from any houses.
Sulphate of Iron and Jeyes' Fluid mixed together
is used when cesspools are being emptied.
Yours respectfully,
JOHN HURST, C.S.I.,
Inspector of Nuisances.
