Condition of
Burial Grounds
For the most part, the burial grounds are overcrowded,
especially so at Stanford-le-Hope, Horndon-on-the-Hill and
South Ockendon. At Orsett, Chadwell-St.-Mary, Little
Thurrock and North Ockendon, additions to burial grounds
have been recently made, or are about to be made. There is
a cemetery in Little Thurrock belonging to Grays. No
addition to any burial ground has been made this year.
Bake-houses,
Slaughterhouses
Bake-houses and Slaughter-houses have been found in
good order.
Cowsheds,dairies
and Milk shops
Cowsheds, Dairies and Milk shops are frequently
inspected by the Inspector of Nuisances and occasionally by
myself. All, with trifling exceptions, have been found in
good order. Most of the milk is sent to London new. The
larger dairies and cowsheds are always found in good order ;
in the smaller ones containing from 1 to 3 or 4 cows, is
where defects are found.
