73 of the deaths were due to Premature Birth, 86 to Developmental
diseases, and 25 from other diseases of Early Infancy.
177 were of infants under one year, three from one and
under two years, and four over two years.
The number of deaths is 51 under last year, and 66 below
the corrected decennial average.
The number of deaths from these diseases in the Borough
is shown more in detail in an earlier part of this Report in Table
XIII., which deals with Infant Mortality.
Old Age.
227 deaths, 72 of males and 155 of females, occurred from
Old Age, 53 in Clapham, 19 in Putney, 73 in Streatham, 17 in
Tooting, and 65 in Wandsworth. All the deaths were of persons
over 65 years of age.
Violence.
122 deaths, 81 of males, and 41 of females, occurred from
Violence, 89 of the deaths being due to Accidental, and 31 to
Suicidal causes, while two deaths were caused by other forms
of Violence.
19 of the deaths belonged to Clapham, 11 to Putney, 30 to
Streatham, 14 to Tooting, and 35 to Wandsworth.
Inquests.
The next Table shows the number of Inquests held in the
Borough during the year, and Table XXI. the number of inquests
held outside the Borough of persons belonging thereto.
