Mid wives.
The Borough Council is not the supervising authority under the
Midwives Acts. From a return provided by the County Council, the
number of midwives practising in the Borough is estimated at twenty.
No subsidy was paid to midwives during the year under report, but
the Council decided to include in the financial estimates for the year
1935/36 a sum of £15 for the provision of midwives, in necessitous
cases, either to act as midwives or, where a doctor is in attendance, to
act as maternity nurses.

Infectious Diseases.
