III. Food Poisoning.
During the year the compulsory notification by medical practitioners
of persons suffering or suspected to be suffering from food poisoning
came into effect. It is to be noted that no definition of food poisoning
is given in the Act, and some cases were accordingly notified where the
suspected food did not fall within the category of those foods which we
have been hitherto accustomed to regard as of potential danger.

In addition to a copy of each certificate being forwarded to the County
Medical Officer, arrangements also have been made to transmit to him
information in respect of cases of general interest as affecting the
Metropolis as a whole.
