At the end of the year, the following retailers were registered
One retailer to sell Certified Milk at or from two shops.
One ,, „ Grade "A" Milk at or from two shops.
Three retailers to sell Grade "A" (Tuberculin Tested) Milk at four
shops in all.
One retailer to sell Pasteurised Milk at or from nine shops.
Bacteriological Examination of Milk. Three samples of Graded
Milk were examined bacteriologically with the following results:—

Certified 197,000 in l/10thcc. Present
Grade "A" (Tuberculin Tested) 3,430 in l/100thcc. Absent
Grade "A" (Tuberculin Tested) 72,086 (present in 1 of 3 tubes)
The results of such examinations were reported to the Ministry of
Health, and, in the case of Certified Milk, to the Medical Officer of
Health for the County in which is situated the farm of the producer.
One sample of "Sterilised" bottled milk was submitted for bacteriological
examination with negative result.
Animal Inoculation. Six samples of milk were submitted to the
bacteriologist for the detection of Tubercle Bacilli (Guinea pig inoculation),
all with negative results.
II. Meat Premises.
(a) Slaughterhouses. There are two slaughterhouses in the Borough
and these were kept under regular and efficient supervision, 201 visits
having been paid. The co-operation of the owners has been successfully
enlisted, and any meat or offal, where the slightest suspicion
exists, is laid aside for inspection.
