Metropolitan Borough of Deptford.
Public Health Department,
Town Hall
New Cross Road, S.E. 14.
June, 1919.
To the Mayor, Aldermen and Councillors.
Gentlemen,
On behalf of Dr. Whitehouse, who was still on service during
the year, I have again the honour of presenting the Annual Report
on the health of the Borough during 1918.
As in the two previous years, the Report is curtailed at the
request of the Local Government Board, and must be regarded only
as a very brief summary of the work accomplished. The only points
on which the Board desire somewhat detailed information are first,
Maternity and Child Welfare work and second, Influenza. Both
are dealt with in the Report.
Since the Armistice, several members of the Staff have been released
from the Army and resumed their ordinary duties shortly before the
close of the year.
To the Chairman and Members of the Public Health Committee
and to the various members of the Staff I have to acknowledge my
indebtedness for their co-operation and assistance during the year.
I am,
Gentlemen,
Your obedient Servant,
M. Macdonald.
