Ship-court.—Offer made by Vestry to purchase two cottages
projecting into the street, so as to admit of continuing
last named improvement into Bell-street. Terms not
agreed upon at date of report.

Irrespective of £12,300 borrowed by the Commissioners
for Public Baths and Wash-houses, with the consent of
the Vestry, the rates of the parish have been mortgaged
during the year to secure the repayment of £33,200
obtained by way of loans during the year for the undermentioned
purposes:—

For the purchase of land in Great Peter-street
and St. Ann's-street, for a street improvement
4,200
For defraying the expenses of further asphalte
works 5,000
For defraying the cost of wood paving works 10,000
For the purchase of freehold land in Monck-
street for a depot 9,000
For defraying the cost of new sewers in
various streets 5,000
£33,200
The table given on p. 56 gives further particulars in
relation to these advances, and shows the amounts remaining
charged upon the rates at the close of the year
(£59,192) after deducting the repayments made during
the twelve months.
