number taken per 1,000 of population, the number adulterated,
and the percentage of adulteration.

Milk.
The following samples were submitted for analysis :—
828 of whole new milk.
2 of separated milk.
25 of condensed milk.
Of these 14 were reported against as being adulterated or not
up to the legal standard. Four contained extraneous water ;
10 were deficient in milk fat.
Proceedings were taken in seven cases and fines amounting to
£5 were inflicted and £11 l1s, 0d. costs imposed. In the other
