63, Finchley Road.— This bakehouse has been rebuilt; the bakehouse
floor and walls tiled and a sheet metal ceiling (painted) provided. Flour
store above also rebuilt, ceiling provided and a new covered storage tank
(accessible for cleansing) which supplies the water to the hot water-system.
7, East Street.—A new bakehouse has been built at this address and
is without doubt the best constructed bakehouse in the Borough. The
inside walls and floor are tiled, and the ceiling is of sheets of opalite;
is well lighted and ventilated. Contains: 1 double-decker steam-heated
oven (gas guel), 2 (gas) water heaters, 3 dough troughs, 1 dough mixer,
1 roll divider, sink with hot and cold water supply, etc. Dressing-room
alongside oven. Flour loft above, access by stairs in bakehouse, concrete
roof and floor, etc.
272, Old Kent Road.—Bakehouse floor tiled.
Bennett Street and Paris Gardens (J. Sainsbury, Ltd.).— New premises.
Bakehouse is situated on the 3rd floor. Walls, floors and ceilings reinforced
concrete; floors covered with impervious bricks, glazed tops;
walls and ceiling painted; well-lighted and ventilated (Electric fans);
Partitions of steel and glass. The bread baked is used in making sausages
and meat pies. Appliances in bakehouse: 4 double-decker ovens (Electrically
heated), 1 flour sifter, 1 dough mixer with 10 pans, 5 improvers,
1 dough divider, 1 bread disintegrator. Pies: 1 roller machine, 2 dough
mixers and pans, 8 stainless steel benches, 25 steel racks, etc. All the
machines are electrically driven.
