DISINFECTION.
The total number of disinfections of rooms during the year by the
Council's disinfecting staff was 7,361. Of this number 2,173 rooms were
disinfected after the occurrence of the ordinary notifiable infectious
diseases, as against 3,553 rooms in 1930. 4,584 periodical sprayings of
rooms occupied by phthisical patients were also carried out during the
year.
604 verminous rooms were sulphured and otherwise cleansed by
the Council's staff during the year, as against 907 in 1930.
Among the total number of disinfections (7,361) it was found
necessary to strip 64 rooms. Of these 25 were in relation to the
notifiable diseases, and 39 after the termination of cases of phthisis.
