ENTERIC FEVER.
2 cases of Enteric Fever were notified during the year, and 3 of
Paratyphoid.

DIPHTHERIA.
Fewer cases of Diphtheria occurred than ever previously, except in
the year 1915, when there were 387 known cases, but the number of deaths
in that year was 37, whereas, during this year, there have only been
8 deaths.
The Borough Council are taking all possible steps to combat this
disease, and in this connection have established a "Schick Clinic" at
Sutherland House where preventive inoculations are given free of charge,
and by the issuing of anti-toxin to all Medical Practitioners, practising
in the Borough, for the purpose of curing the disease when it occurs.
Regarding the "Schick Clinic," I made the following report to the
Public Health Committee in December last. (The 1931 table has been
brought up to date.)

IMMUNISATION AGAINST DIPHTHERIA.
Your Immunisation Clinic commenced in March, 1929, at Sutherland
House, and is held every Thursday afternoon. Since that time until
November 1st, 1931, 424 persons have been rendered immune to Diphtheria
at the Clinic.
At the outset it will be quite obvious to the Committee that this
number is far too small to have any effect on the number of cases of
